The Rabble Volume 1 Issue 5: STRIKE UPDATE

STRIKE UPDATE

NOVEMBER GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Yesterday was Local 696’s final general meeting of 2024. President Dinkins explained the strike and answered questions for about an hour and a half. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Strike Captains will be deployed city-wide to organize protest activities at work locations.

    • To sign up to be a strike captain, call Local 696 at 215-895-3330.

  • District Council 33 has a strike fund. It will be managed by the union and distributed to workers proportional to their participation in striking activities, determined by Strike Captains

  • PFCU is offering $3,000 loans at interest rates as low as 1%, subject to credit rating. Prior PFCU membership is not required.

    • This offer is only valid if we strike. If we do not strike, this loan is not available!

  • This strike is for fair wages. We are not greedy. We want what we deserve to live comfortable lives in the city we love!

Full unofficial meeting notes are available by request. We are not distributing them in this publication for security reasons.

Dos and don’ts of striking

IF WE fight together, we win together

In our last issue, we discussed the very real anxiety of striking- How it is scary and stressful. Our low incomes are designed to keep us down and deflated. It is no accident. Economic liberty makes the working class freer to pursue fulfilling lives, and we will not win by appealing to the moral authority of the ones who would keep us down.

Feel no shame for your fear- but don’t allow it to control you. The only way out is through, and the only way through is together. The contract we win in the end will be worth the price we pay.

In solidarity,

-The Rabble Rousers
